Need Services?

We provide fresh, healthy food, clothing and household goods, and financial assistance all free of charge to those in need. Just as Father Fred did, we listen, we care, and we share. We do our best to help everyone who comes to Father Fred, treating everyone with dignity and respect.

To access services, visit us at:
826 Hastings Street in Traverse City
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 10am-2pm, or Wednesday from 10am to 7pm
Or call (231) 947-2055

Food Programs

We’re here to help those in need with several programs that provide healthy, fresh food and non-perishable food items, as well as personal hygiene products.

Clothing & Household Goods

Our clothing and household goods department offers items free of charge. Guests shop in what resembles a thrift store with access to dishes, pots and pans, linens, clothing, shoes, and more.

Financial Assistance

We understand that circumstances can change at any time. We can help. We’re here to listen to each and every story, and offer financial assistance for guests who need the essentials.

Spiritual Care

Alex McCauslin

Father Fred chaplain

Spiritual care is always available to our guests and volunteers. Regardless of your faith tradition (or lack thereof), our chaplain, Alex McCauslin will welcome you, where you are and as you are. Alex listens, patiently, with compassion and without judgment, and can counsel about personal or emotional troubles. She is able to help you sort through your thoughts and feelings and work with you on making a plan for your next steps.* And, of course, she can offer spiritual care. As a trained clergy person, Alex can address spiritual or religious concerns, pray as requested, and help you find long-term spiritual connections in the greater community.

In addition to offering spiritual care, Alex, our Chaplain builds and nurtures relationships with faith leaders and faith communities in our service area.

*Our Chaplain is not a licensed mental health professional and so next steps may include assisting you in finding specialized services, as desired.

WE WILL BE CLOSED the week of July 1-5 for building maintenance. We will reopen July 9.
